BIOGRAPHY
DJ Félix Ávila was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and from a young age, he showed a musical curiosity that led him to explore various instruments such as the harmonica, guitar, and piano. At 15, he formalized his studies at the José Luis Paz Conservatory in Maracaibo.
In 2002, Félix founded the reggae and Latin ska band Babalao, with which he shared the stage with artists like Desorden Público and Mata Rica. After the band dissolved in 2005, he reinvented himself as a DJ, adopting the name CapitanRagga. As the resident DJ of Bahia RastaBar since 2007, he toured Venezuelan cities such as Caracas, Valencia, Maracay, and Barquisimeto, playing reggae at events alongside renowned international bands like Los Cafres, Gondwana, Gentleman, and Cultura Profética.
In 2011, Félix ventured into electronic music, focusing on house and its variations. He became a resident of the TNT club in Maracaibo, where he stayed for four years. During this time, he collaborated with brands like Coca-Cola, Red Bull, Polar, and Diageo, and released several remixes, including two versions of the iconic Venezuelan singer Simón Díaz.
In 2015, he moved to Miami, where he gradually made his way into the scene, playing his music in lounges like Segafredo Zanetti and hotels like Nautilus and Hilton Gardens in South Beach. In 2017, he became the resident DJ of Komodo in Brickell, part of the prestigious Groot Hospitality group, where he worked until 2020. His live style is characterized by dynamic mashups, remixes, and edits, fusing genres like house, trap, hip-hop, reggae, and rock.
In 2021, he released his book “DJ de cero a cien,” a method for learning to mix, and in 2022, he successfully brought this method to a video platform, graduating over 600 new DJs worldwide.
Félix is known for his incredible versatility as a DJ. His ability to adapt to different genres and musical styles makes him the perfect DJ for both high-end events and open-format parties. He can effortlessly switch from playing house and electronic music at exclusive events to creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere with genres like reggaeton, hip-hop, and dance at large festivals and nightclubs. This ability to read the crowd and adapt his set accordingly has earned him a stellar reputation in the industry.
Currently, he resides in Houston and continues to produce and perform at exclusive events, consolidating his career as one of the most versatile and talented DJs of the moment.
